Job Duties
As an Identification Specialist 3, you would manage the day to day operations of a unit of the State Identification Bureau or Office of Criminal Justice Records, providing supervision and direction. You would perform many of the duties of Identification Specialists 1 and Identification Specialists 2, analyze data, make final determinations on especially difficult determinations, provide clear and concise reports on assigned subjects, and provide sound recommendations to higher level management within your bureau.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Identification Specialist 2 or Latent Print Examiner 2.*
Only the titles listed are qualifying.
*In order to be appointed to an Identification Specialist 3 position, you must have your Ten Print Examiner certification and/or successful completion of the DCJS Latent Proficiency Test within the past year.
