Job Duties

As a Management Specialist 2, you would supervise and conduct comprehensive audits of the management, program, and fiscal affairs of local social services districts and of providers of health care or other services, and supervise and perform eligibility reviews of applicants for the recipients of public assistance for the purpose of determining compliance with Federal and State statutes, regulations, and billing protocols. You may have to perform data analytics to find trends and perform risk assessments for your audits. You may also be assigned in Central Office to support field staff or work on projects that encompass programmatic reviews or special tasks as assigned. You would perform the full range of supervisory duties including approving leave and tracking time and attendance, identifying staff development needs, evaluating staff performance, and completing performance evaluations for subordinate audit staff.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Management Specialist 1, Management Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Management Specialist Trainee 1, Management Specialist Trainee 1 (Spanish Language), Management Specialist Trainee 2, Management Specialist Trainee 2 (Spanish Language), Auditor 1, Auditor Trainee 1, or Auditor Trainee 2.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before February 13, 2023, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
