As a State Program Examiner 4, you would be responsible for participating in developing the annual audit plans for assigned agencies and authorities. The State Program Examiner 4 is expected to maintain an active involvement in staying informed of ongoing and emerging issues at their responsible agencies and authorities by reviewing applicable documents, maintaining connection with agency liaisons and officials to identify potential new risks in these areas of responsibilities. The State Program Examiner 4 should also maintain involvement in the audit work conducted in their agencies to ensure that the audit work follows the audit plan, ensures the audit recommendations address the results of the work and are consistent with the audit's expectations. Additionally, the State Program Examiner 4 reviews and approves the draft and final audit report before they go to the audit director. They also should suggest audit techniques, in addition to attending routine audit meetings communicate regularly with the audit team and lead research and special projects.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of the State Comptroller and have had three months permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a:
State Program Examiner 3 or a Data Processing Fiscal Systems Auditor 4.
Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before February 14, 2022, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
