Job Duties

As a State Program Examiner 2, you would function as examiner-in-charge of financial and performance audits and attestation engagements of New York State and New York City agencies, public benefit corporations, and for-profit and not-for-profit organizations that contract with a State agency. You would develop an audit plan or charter focusing on areas of highest risk and most significant impact; supervise audits and engagements in accordance with applicable standards; discuss tentative findings and recommendations with agency representatives; prepare draft audit reports covering the significant aspects of the audits; and supervise State Program Examiners 1.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.  

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the Office of the New York State Comptroller with three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a State Program Examiner 1, State Program Examiner 1 (Fiscal), State Program Examiner 1 (Systems), State Program Examiner Trainee 2, State Program Examiner Trainee 2 (Fiscal), State Program Examiner Trainee 2 (Systems), State Program Examiner Trainee 1, State Program Examiner Trainee 1 (Fiscal), or State Program Examiner Trainee 1 (Systems).

Only the titles listed are qualifying.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title, at the agency noted above, on or before October 22, 2021, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to apply for this examination.
