Job Duties

As a Transportation Office Assistant 2 at the Department of Transportation, you would be required to operate a computer and other office equipment; and may supervise clerical staff in a Highway Maintenance Residency, Bridge Maintenance shop, or Fleet Administration shop. You would be responsible for personnel and purchasing activities for the work location and the preparation and compilation of various reports, forms, and correspondence. In addition, you would respond to verbal and written inquiries from the public and employees. During emergencies, you will assist staff by receiving and relaying reports and transmitting directions.

As a Transportation Office Assistant 2 at the Canal Corporation, you would be assigned to a Canal Section and would provide administrative support to the Canal Section Superintendent in support of section operations and supervise clerical staff. You would be required to operate a computer and other office equipment; and would be responsible for supervising a variety of office work and performing various activities involved with payroll, time and attendance, personnel, and purchasing. In addition, you would be required to prepare various reports, forms, and correspondence and to respond to verbal and written inquiries from the public and employees.
