Job Duties
As a Health Systems Specialist 3, you would lead teams and/or units performing statewide surveillance, medical or programmatic review, audit, and/or regulatory activities to evaluate facilities and/or patient care issues; finalize and present recommendations regarding facility licensure and/or certification; monitor corrective measures; develop, review, and implement health policies and procedures; and respond to health emergencies. You would directly supervise lower-level Health Systems Specialists and other health program staff involved with the above functions.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

For employees of New York State, on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the Department of Health and have had 45 days of permanent competitive, non-competitive NY HELPS*, or 55-b/55-c service as a Fire and Safety Representative, Health Systems Specialist 1, Health Systems Specialist 1 (Emergency Medical Care), Health Systems Specialist 1 (Funeral Directing), Health Systems Specialist 2 (Physical Therapy), Health Systems Specialist 2 (Nutrition), Health Systems Specialist 2 (Social Work), Regional Medical Care Administrator, Senior Nutrition Services Consultant, or Senior Sanitarian. If you have received a permanent appointment to a qualifying title listed and served provisionally** in that title immediately preceding your permanent appointment, such provisional service may be counted towards meeting the time in title required for this examination.
