Job Duties

As a Health Systems Specialist 3, you would lead teams and/or units performing statewide surveillance, medical or programmatic review, audit, and/or regulatory activities to evaluate facilities and/or patient care issues; finalize and present recommendations regarding facility licensure and/or certification; monitor corrective measures; develop, review, and implement health policies and procedures; and respond to health emergencies. You would directly supervise lower-level Health Systems Specialists and other health program staff involved with the above functions.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Health or the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General and have had 45 days of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Community Nursing Services Consultant (Home Health Services), Fire and Safety Representative, Health Care Surveyor 2 (Nursing), Health Systems Specialist 1, Health Systems Specialist 1 (Emergency Medical Care), Health Systems Specialist 1 (Funeral Directing), Health Systems Specialist 2 (Physical Therapy), Health Systems Specialist 2 (Nutrition), Health Systems Specialist 2 (Social Work), Hospital Nursing Services Consultant, Regional Medical Care Administrator, Senior Nutrition Services Consultant, or Senior Sanitarian.
