Job Duties

As a Safety and Health Program Manager 2, you would plan, direct, administer and supervise the Statewide activities of a program under the general direction of the Director of Safety and Health. This includes coordinating work assignments; administering fee collections; preparing reports; monitoring program activities; investigating complaints; recommending policy and procedure based on program review; setting standards; and representing the Commissioner of Labor or the Division Director at meetings.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Labor and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Either A.    a Safety and Health Program Manager 1;

Or B.    an Associate Industrial Hygienist, Associate Safety and Health Engineer, Professional Engineer 1 (Industrial), Professional Engineer 2 (Industrial), Senior Safety and Health Engineer, Supervising Industrial Hygienist, or Supervising Safety and Health Inspector.
