Summary of Job Description

As a Health Program Administrator 3, you would supervise a unit or program by managing various fiscal, personnel, policy and procedure development and implementation, information and communication systems, and other administrative functions. You may manage and coordinate the activities of staff who oversee grants and/or contracts, and the grant and/or contract process for a program area; manage organizational development, change processes, specific short or long-term projects, or lead cross-functional teams and workgroups; serve as liaison with field units and other governmental entities and agencies at the local, State, and/or federal levels; and handle new or high-profile initiatives.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Health or the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Health Program Administrator 2, or in a position allocated to salary grade 24 or higher.

After one year of the service described in the Minimum Qualifications, successful candidates will be qualified for appointment from the eligible list.
