Job Duties

As an Aging Services Area Supervisor, in the Office for the Aging under the direction of the Assistant Director, Division of Aging Network Operations (DANO), the incumbent will provide direction, supervision, technical assistance and guidance to Aging Services Program Coordinator 1’s, Aging Service Representatives, and support staff. You will provide detailed guidance and assistance to the network of area agencies (primarily units of County government) regarding all programs administered by the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA). Further, you will assist in planning and administering bureau priorities with the Executive and Policy Divisions and the Fiscal and Reporting Bureaus in DANO. You will represent NYSOFA in public hearings and gatherings regarding NYSOFA initiatives and services provided for older New York State adults.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office for the Aging and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as either:

A. as an Aging Services Representative, Aging Services Representative (Spanish Language), Aging Services Program Coordinator 1, Aging Services Nutrition Consultant 1, Aging Services Nutrition Consultant 2, or Aging Services Program Analyst 3;

OR

B. as a Program Research Specialist 3 (Human Services), Long Term Care Systems Specialist 2, or Long Term Care Advocacy Assistance Specialist 2.
