The Department of Taxation and Finance is responsible for collecting most of the revenue which funds vital government services in New York State. Staff process tax returns, conduct tax audits, collect delinquent accounts, and investigate criminal tax fraud. Department operations include a sophisticated call center which also serves as the official call center during statewide emergencies and supports the telephone needs of several State agencies. Call center operations and online services are becoming the foundation for customer interaction with the Department, requiring extensive technological development and support.
