Summary of Job Description

The Investigative Officer title series was created effective June 16, 2016, and consolidated a wide variety of investigative titles.  Please visit Frequently Asked Questions for further information regarding this consolidation and Investigator Title Listing for a list of the titles consolidated.

These positions exist only in the Department of Labor’s Division of Unemployment Insurance.  As an Investigative Officer 4 (Unemployment Insurance), you would supervise or manage the performance of investigations related to the administration and enforcement of the laws, rules and regulations governing Unemployment Insurance.  You may plan, direct and coordinate the investigative activities of a designated program including both administrative and technical supervision over all assigned units or geographical areas.  You may advise and report to agency management on investigative and related matters, ensure that program goals and performance standards are met.  You may participate in the recommendation, formulation and implementation of agency investigative policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.  You may prepare reports detailing unit activities, workload, and personnel requirements; and evaluate the training needs of the unit for consideration by agency management.
