Job Duties
As a Human Resources Specialist 2, you would perform duties requiring a high level of competence in the human resources field and generally work under broad guidelines from a higher-level manager or Director Human Resources. They typically supervise and train entry-level professionals and administrative support staff. They assign work, give written and oral instructions and guidelines, are available for advice and to aid, and review periodic reports and completed work for conformance to established standards.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
On or before the date of examination, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had 45 days of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:
Either A. Human Resources Specialist 1, Human Resources Specialist Trainee 2, or Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1;
Or B. Human Resources Specialist 1 (Labor Relations), Human Resources Specialist Trainee 2 (Labor Relations), Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 (Labor Relations), or Head Clerk Personnel.
