As a Tax Compliance Representative 2 at the Department of Taxation and Finance, you would be responsible for the supervision, development and evaluation of Tax Compliance Representatives 1 in the collection of delinquent taxes or other financial obligations and would apply knowledge of New York State Tax Laws, Department collection tools, procedures, and regulations. You would direct and assist staff with difficult or complex delinquent accounts. You would review and approve, where appropriate, recommendations from subordinate staff to implement penalty waivers, installment payment agreements, and other various enforcement tools. Incumbents oversee on-the-job training for subordinate staff and may be assigned to formally train in a classroom setting. You would evaluate performance and monitor the workload of subordinate staff through regular service observation and review of casework. When required, you would act as an advocate or witness on behalf of the Department in conferences, hearings, or civil actions. You would prepare and submit reports on collection activities. You may be assigned to work on special projects as needed.

You would direct and assist staff with difficult delinquent accounts. You would also prepare and submit reports on collection activities. You would review and approve, where appropriate, recommendations from subordinate staff to implement, installment payment agreements and other various enforcement tools. You would oversee on-the-job training for subordinate staff and may be assigned to formally train in a classroom setting. When required, you would act as an advocate or witness on behalf of the Department in conferences, hearings, or civil actions.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
Either A. as a Tax Compliance Representative 1 or Tax Compliance Representative 1 (Spanish Language);
Or
B. as a Tax Compliance Agent 1, Tax Compliance Agent 1 (Spanish Language), Taxpayer Services Representative 1, Taxpayer Services Representative 1 (Spanish Language), Taxpayer Services Specialist 1, Taxpayer Services Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Taxpayer Services Representative 2, Taxpayer Services Representative 2 (Spanish Language), or Tax Technician 1.
