Job Duties

Human Resources Specialist 2 (Benefits Contracts) may function as Contract Managers for benefit program contracts having smaller annual dollar value. Under general supervision, incumbents perform analysis, participate in the contractor selection process, review and interpret the analytical work of others, serve as liaisons to the insurance carriers, and obtain all necessary reporting data required to appropriately administer the new contract(s) or specific portions of areas of an existing contract.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Civil Service and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Human Resources Specialist 1 (Benefits), Employee Benefits Representative 1, Employee Benefits Representative Trainee 1, Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 (Benefits), Employee Benefits Representative Trainee 2, Human Resources Specialist Trainee 2 (Benefits), Senior Accountant, Accountant Trainee 1, Accountant Trainee 2, Senior Auditor, Auditor Trainee 1, or Auditor Trainee 2.
