Job Duties

As a Coastal Resources Specialist 2, you would supervise Coastal Resources Specialist 1 or serve as the technical expert in a very specific and highly technical field; participate in complex projects; analyze the need for and type of waterfront projects; prepare requests for proposals for selected implementation projects; develop consultant selection criteria for projects and review bids against the criteria; supervise the preparation of project contracts and prepare work programs; monitor project progress and ensure that contractual obligations are met and objectives are achieved; and develop guidelines, instructions and informational materials for preparing and implementing Local Waterfront Revitalization Program projects.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of State and have had three months of permanent competitive, non-competitive NY HELPS*, or 55-b/55-c service as a Coastal Resources Specialist 1. If you have received a permanent appointment to a qualifying title and served provisionally** in that title immediately preceding your permanent appointment, such provisional service may be counted towards meeting the time in title required for this examination.
