Summary of Job Description

As a Business Officer 3, you would direct, manage, and oversee business office operations for a facility operated by the Office of Mental Health or Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, including business and financial management functions related to accounting, budgeting, contract administration, inventory control, and purchasing; develop, implement, and revise business office policies and procedures; and supervise lower-level Business Officers and administrative support staff. You may also plan, manage, and oversee support service operations, which may include environment services/housekeeping, nutrition/food service, maintenance, physical plant, safety and security, and transportation services.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

For employees of New York State, on or before the date of the examination, candidates must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health, Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, or Helen Hayes Hospital and have had 45 days of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Either A. a Business Officer 2;

Or B. an Associate Accountant, Associate Auditor, Auditor 2, Associate Budgeting Analyst, Associate Health Care Fiscal Analyst, Associate Personnel Administrator, Human Resources Specialist 2, Contract Management Specialist 2, Office Services Manager, or Resources and Reimbursement Agent 3.
