Job Duties

As a Business Officer 2, you would perform, coordinate, and supervise business, fiscal, and support service activities for programs and facilities operated by the Helen Hayes Hospital, Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, Office of Addiction Services and Supports, and Office of Mental Health. You would supervise Business Officers 1 and administrative support staff engaged in business and financial management functions related to accounting, budgeting, contract administration, inventory control, and purchasing; and may plan and administer support service operations, which may include environmental services/housekeeping, nutrition/food service, maintenance, physical plant, safety and security, and transportation services.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health, Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, or the Office of Addiction Services and Supports and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Either A. Business Officer 1, Business Officer Trainee 1, or Business Officer Trainee 2;

Or B. Administrative Specialist 1, Assistant Office Services Manager, Contract Management Specialist 1, Head Account Clerk, Health Facilities Management Assistant, Human Resources Specialist 1, Nutrition Services Administrator 1, Purchasing Agent, Senior Accountant, Senior Auditor, Senior Budgeting Analyst, Senior Health Care Fiscal Analyst, Resource and Reimbursement Agent 1, or Resource and Reimbursement Agent 2.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before February 13, 2023, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
