Summary of Job Description

As an Environmental Educator 4, you will direct the development and delivery of environmental education program activities; develop the budget for program activities, and monitor the expenditure of program funds throughout the fiscal year; oversee the hiring of staff and the operation of environmental education camps and environmental education centers; participate in capital improvement planning for environmental education centers and camp facilities; provide training programs relating to environmental education and interpretation to staff, professional organizations, and other government and environmental organizations; work with other State agencies such as the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation on inter-agency environmental education programs, and with external partners and groups on the management of environmental education facilities and delivery of environmental education programs; provide supervision to environmental education staff and advise staff members on environmental education program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Environmental Educator 3.
