Job Duties

Supervisors and Principal Administrative Analysts plan and direct the activities of a major segment of an agency administrative analysis unit. The position directs the study of existing, proposed or mandated new programs and the systematic application of a broad body of management principles, theories, practices and techniques. Functional areas studied include: plans and procedures of new or changing programs; follow-up implementation studies; forms design and control; management information systems development; methods and procedures revisions; policy and program review and evaluation; organization studies; management audits; management training; coordination of agency management improvement program; and long-range planning. Supervisors and Principal Administrative Analysts are distinguished by level and number of staff supervised, and depth and breadth of administrative analysis activities overseen.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Associate Administrative Analyst.
