Job Duties

Administrative Specialists 2 provide professional administrative and staff support to executives, program managers and staff, boards, or commissions by managing budgeting, human resources, and business services for an organization or program, conducting special studies and research projects, and managing office and support activities.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

The eligible list from the Senior Administrative Assistant examination is used to fill positions in this title. This examination was open to qualified employees of New York State who had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Either A. an Administrative Assistant, Administrative Assistant Trainee 1, or Administrative Assistant Trainee 2;

Or B. an Assistant Office Services Manager, Contract Management Specialist 1, Contract Management Specialist Trainee 1, Contract Management Specialist Trainee 2, Senior Administrative Analyst, Administrative Analyst Trainee 1, Administrative Analyst Trainee 2, Senior Budgeting Analyst, Budgeting Analyst Trainee 1, Budgeting Analyst Trainee 2, Senior Personnel Administrator, Personnel Administrator Trainee 1, Personnel Administrator Trainee 2, Thruway Purchasing Officer 1, Thruway Purchasing Officer Trainee 1, or Thruway Purchasing Officer Trainee 2.

Qualifying Experience for Appointment from the Eligible List:

After one year of service as an Administrative Assistant, Assistant Office Services Manager, Contract Management Specialist 1, Senior Administrative Analyst, Senior Budgeting Analyst, Senior Personnel Administrator, or Thruway Purchasing Officer 1, successful candidates will be qualified for appointment from the eligible list.
