Job Duties

Working under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of Inmate Classification and Movement, Correction Classification Analysts are responsible for making final inmate classification decisions based on staff recommendations, and for monitoring inmate classification activities of a specified group of facilities. In addition, they are responsible for: making final decisions regarding inmate transfers and security classification levels; reviewing all transfer referrals from assigned facilities for accuracy and compliance with Departmental rules and regulations, including checking transfer history, placement levels, criminal history, enemies, and program needs and, if appropriate, conducting a full inmate file review; reviewing and assigning inmate security classification level based on the reclassification guidelines, which includes checking the inmate’s sentence structure, time to earliest release, public risk score, institutional behavior, warrants and/or detainers, pending charges, and the classification level recommendation from the Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator; reviewing, approving and completing Security Classification Guideline changes submitted by facilities; and coordinating transfers of “hard to place” inmates with other divisions (Health Services, Mental Health, Office of Special Investigations, etc.) within the Department.
