Job Duties

As an Education Finance Specialist 4, you would direct a unit within the Chief Financial Officer and supervise Education Finance Specialists 3; coordinate activities of a program are to ensure that all objectives are met, and oversee a major multi-disciplinary work team or function. You would also oversee the processing, auditing and accounting procedures pertinent to State and Federal funds administered by SED; direct the developmental and planning functions related to improvement of SED's fiscal services; communicate with educational and State agencies concerning issues related to SED programs; and ensure that all fiscal program operations and processes comply with SED management and accounting procedures and advise and assist program staff with compliance; and supervise the continuous review of funds available to SED and advise on the most efficient utilization.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Education Department and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an:

Either A: Education Finance Specialist 3;

Or B: Education Finance Specialist 2.
