Summary of Job Description

The Assistant Director Plant Industry oversees the activities of the Division's field and office staff, enforces Agriculture and Markets Law and all required regulatory actions, develops procedures and protocols for the enforcement of federal and state regulations, and assists the Director in every area of Division responsibility and acts as Director during the Director's absence.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

Candidates must have an associate's degree in plant science, horticulture, agriculture, or an environmental or natural science discipline; AND eight years of managerial work experience* working in an industry, governmental, or educational organization which is responsible for the safeguarding of agricultural or horticultural plant resources.

* Managerial work experience is defined as having direct responsibility for supervision of five or more employees and experience in at least two of the following areas:

Program planning and evaluation
Policy development
Program management including deployment of staff
Preparation and execution of contracts and budgets
