An individual's final salary is determined by the Office of the State Comptroller. This salary schedule does not reflect any Special Salary Treatments
As a Real Estate Officer 1, you would manage and direct real estate programs or large portions of real estate programs at State agencies responsible for the following specializations of appraisal, control of right-of-way access and land-use, or leases and/or easements of real property

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
There are four different examinations held for this position.
For Real Estate Officer 1-DOT: On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as either:
Either A. Real Estate Specialist 2;
Or B. Senior Land Surveyor.
Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before November 5, 2021, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
For Real Estate Officer 1-OGS: On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of General Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as either:
Either A. Real Estate Specialist 2 (General Services) or Leasing Agent 2;
Or B. Building Space Analyst 2 or Senior Land Surveyor.
Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before November 5, 2021, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
For Real Estate Officer 1-EnCon: On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation or the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:
Either A. Real Estate Specialist 2 (Conservation);
Or B. Senior Land Surveyor.
Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before November 5, 2021, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
For Real Estate Officer 1-OPWDD: On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Real Estate Specialist 2.
Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before November 5, 2021, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
