Job Duties

As a Real Property Analyst 3, you would manage teams; determine priorities for review of real property tax administration and the resolution of politically sensitive or controversial issues; supervise and oversee the preparation of real property valuation specifications used to implement data systems, and coordinate these activities with information technology and other agency staff; consult with representatives of utility and industrial companies and agency accounting staff regarding original inventory data; evaluate existing and proposed assessment and real property tax policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and laws and recommend modifications; respond to concerns of local government officials; and communicate agency policy to staff and help to implement that policy in central and regional offices.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance or the Division of Tax Appeals with three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:

As a Real Property Analyst 2 or Real Property Services Manager 1.

Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before November 5, 2021, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
