The State University of New York is the nation's largest comprehensive system of higher education. The University enrolls about 370,000 students, and employs over 75,000 facility, administrators, and staff. Each year, the State University of New York awards over 30,000 associates, 29,000 bachelors, 8,000 masters, 1,000 first professional, and 1,000 doctoral degrees. This is accomplished through the University's 30 community colleges, 13 arts and sciences colleges, four research universities and two academic health centers, five specialized colleges, five partnership colleges, and five residential campuses that comprise the University College of Technology. As set out in the laws of New York State, "The mission of the State University system shall be to provide to the people of New York educational services of the highest quality, with the broadest possible access."
