Job Duties

As an Auditor 2 (Municipal), you would perform or supervise financial and data analysis activities while overseeing the fiscal affairs of local governments and school districts; evaluate local codes, charters, and laws both for legal content and applicability to audit and operational parameters; review legal standards for fraud and collaborate with local law enforcement, District Attorneys, and governing boards on such issues; provide technical assistance and training to municipal governments, local officials, and their employees; and perform audits, special studies and reviews of state-wide, regional and municipal governments. You would also supervise, train, and assign work to staff serving in Auditor 1 (Municipal) positions.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of the State Comptroller and have had three months permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Auditor 1 (Municipal), Auditor Trainee 2 (Municipal), or Auditor Trainee 1 (Municipal).

Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before February 14, 2022, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
