As an Investigative Specialist 2 (Motor Vehicle) or Investigative Specialist 2 (Motor Vehicle) (Spanish Language), you would supervise the performance of investigations related to the administration and enforcement of the laws, rules, and regulations governing motor vehicle sales; registration; licensing; disposal; oversee investigations involving identity theft; multiple identities; auto crimes; and facial recognition. You would supervise two or more Investigative Specialist 1s (Motor Vehicle) and independently perform the more sensitive or complex investigations requiring greater knowledge and interpretation of the agency's laws, rules, and regulations. You would perform the full range of supervisory duties including approving leave and tracking time and attendance, identifying staff development needs, evaluating staff performance, and completing performance evaluations.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
For all qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Investigative Specialist 1 (Motor Vehicle), Investigative Specialist 1 (Motor Vehicle) (Various Language Parenthetics), Investigative Specialist Trainee 1 (Motor Vehicle), Investigative Specialist Trainee 1 (Motor Vehicle) (Various Language Parenthetics), Investigative Specialist Trainee 2 (Motor Vehicle), or Investigative Specialist Trainee 2 (Motor Vehicle) (Various Language Parenthetics).
