The Department of Labor (DOL) is New York State's primary advocate for job creation and economic growth through workforce development. The Department also ensures the safety and health of all public employees and many private employees in the workplace, and administers unemployment assistance. The Department serves as the principal source of labor market information in the State, including current and predicted economic trends affecting the State's economy. In addition, the Labor Department upholds State labor laws and federal statutes that relate to working conditions and compensation. The Department offers a variety of services that are designed to help businesses find workers and to help people find jobs. All of the activities of the Labor Department revolve around the needs of employers and the working people of our State.
